Giving back to veterans in TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® communities with Movers for Military

At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, we are all about giving back to the people in our community and helping to move people forward in life. This is especially true with our veterans, and we make sure to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country and allow us to do what we do each day.

Each fall, multiple franchises from across the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK system run our Movers for Military campaign, where locations partner with local organizations to help collect and deliver essential care items to homeless veterans and veterans who are currently living in shelters. With a large number of employees throughout our system equipped with a military background, this is a cause that is extremely important to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, and we try to make a difference for as many people as we can.

“Any time we can help or assist veteran or service members, it is a good thing,” said Jeff Walker, a veteran and franchisee at our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Colorado Springs location. “It is a small way to serve our country.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations partner with local shelters and veteran organizations and use manpower and trucks to help with the collection and delivery of the items these veterans need.

“Last year was our first year doing Movers for Military, and I had only six collection sites and collected a total of 1,800 items,” said Stefanie Shook, the marketing manager at the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Pasadena location. “This year, I started to get a lot more interest in the program, and was able to expand to 27 donation drop-off locations and collect 6,770 items!”

Shook and the Pasadena location partnered with three different chambers of commerce, a realtor association, a printing company, four different credit unions, five hotels, two YMCAs, three cleaners, a local newspaper, a blood donor center, and a medical hospital to help expand their collection range.

For Eugenia Parlow – the regional sales and marketing manager for multiple TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations in Florida – they also put a heavy emphasis on Movers for Military, and work hard each year to make an impact on the veterans in Florida. Parlow and her franchises partner with local chambers, radio stations, school ROTCs, universities, banks, golf courses, realtors, and other businesses, and are always looking to add additional business partners.Movers For Military Golf outing picture Larry

“We deliver boxes and set them up at collection partner locations, and a wish list is put on each box,” Parlow said. “In addition to the donation drive, we organize an annual golf outing, where 100 percent of the proceeds are given back to a local veteran’s organization.”

It’s a constant effort each year to make sure we are doing all we can to help these veterans who have given so much for this country and put their life on the line for our freedom, and the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand is happy to help out.

“These men and women sacrificed so much to give us our freedom, and it is only right that we protect them and help them when they return home,” Shook said. “Los Angeles has the largest population of homeless military veterans in the nation, with an estimated 4,000 homeless veterans living on the streets. Many of these men and women suffer from substance abuse, mental illness, post-traumatic stress disorder, and chronic medical problems. Post-military life can feel overwhelming to many veterans, and they often don’t know where to turn for help. The charity we work with is an amazing resource for our veterans, and we love spreading the word of the wonderful work they do!”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® extends community outreach with four fall cause-marketing campaigns

TMT Pasadena

-Written by Erik Sargent

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is known as a nationally recognized moving company, but at our core, we are built on a strong foundation of giving back, and do everything we can to help out in our local communities through charity, awareness, and donation events.

Each fall, we run a host of fall cause-marketing campaigns across our 350 plus locations, aiming to make a difference in the communities we live and work in. This lines up with our strong core value system that has carried our company for more than 30 years, and it’s imperative to us as a brand to ensure we are doing everything we can to help those in need.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® runs four core campaigns each fall, ranging across a variety of areas of focus.

Movers for Military: There’s nothing more important than helping the brave men and women who have served our country, and that’s exactly what this campaigns aims to do. This program collects essential items that are delivered to veterans who are currently living in homeless shelters during Veteran’s Day.

Movers for Meals: The ongoing hunger crisis is an issue that always needs addressing, and this campaign strives to provide food to those who need it by partnering with businesses, schools, or other local organizations to collect non-perishable food items that can be delivered to collection centers and food pantries.

TMT MesaMovers for Mutts: Our community outreach doesn’t stop with humans – we take care of our animal friends, too! This campaign works with local animal shelters to collect food, toys, and other essential items for pets in need.

Truckload of Warmth: The fall and winter months often bring a decline in weather, and many people don’t have the proper clothing to stay warm during the harsh winter months. This campaign works with local shelters to collect hats, gloves, coats, scarves, and anything else that can help people in our communities stay warm.

Carolyn-Chynoweth“I think it’s important to have fall campaigns for our brand because it lets people know that we care about our community year round,” said Carolyn Chynoweth, marketing manager for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® North Dallas, South Dallas, McKinney, Carrollton, and Garland (TX) locations. “Also, it helps people understand that we care about many different charities and causes.”

These fall campaigns provide an opportunity for our various locations to identify areas and groups that are in need in the communities they operate in, and offer our expertise and moving services to assist charities and organizations with their work.

Sally-Mink“I really love the fall campaigns because each franchise gets the opportunity to see a specific need in their community and help,” said Sally Mink, marketing director at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brentwood, Tenn. “Our fall campaigns also show we are not a one-and-done company when it comes to giving back. We are passionate about helping all year long, not just a couple months out of the year.”

It’s the people in our communities that have gotten us to where we are today as a company, and that’s why we put so much effort into giving back any way we can. We love putting a smile on peoples’ faces, and our franchises appreciate the chance to connect with those around them.

“Our movers tell us all the time their favorite part of the job is going out on charity moves or being a part of charity events,” said Jenni Hargrove, sales and marketing director for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Nashville and Hermitage, Tenn., locations. “They know their more difficult moving jobs are worth the hard work because they allow us to fund charity initiatives that serve less fortunate people in the community. Our employees also love that we make sure they always know how they can get involved – it shows them we really are the “Movers Who Care®”, instead of just a corporation.”

If you are interested in helping us work in communities and working toward a great cause, be sure to visit our franchise locator and contact your local TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to see how you can get involved this fall!

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® celebrates “National Grandparents Day” every day with THE GRANDMA RULE®

-Written by Erik Sargent

Yesterday on Sunday, September 10th, it was “National Grandparents Day”, a day to take the time to recognize our beloved grandparents and all of the wonderful things they bring into our lives.

For us here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, every day might as well be considered “National Grandparents Day”, because our loyal senior following are a large focus of what we do, and we pride ourselves on easing their transitions as best as possible. From helping with downsizing moves to long-distance relocations, in-home moving, and providing special training to our employees who work with seniors – our goal is to make life easier for our retired friends.

grandmaeb2One of our strongest company core values is THE GRANDMA RULE®, which was created in honor of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® founder Mary Ellen Sheets’ mother, Helen Eberly, or Grandma Eb for short. In the early stages of the company when Mary Ellen was in need of storage space, Grandma Eb allowed her to park trucks in her backyard. She went on to play a huge part in the development of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand, and the THE GRANDMA RULE® still resonates with employees throughout our system.

brian-stern“THE GRANDMA RULE®, to me, exemplifies everything we want and expect out of our employees and ourselves,” said Brian Stern, a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® multi-unit franchisee in Boston, New Jersey, and Maine. “The idea is to treat each and every one of our customers as if they were our grandmother. If we do that, every customer will be treated with respect, patience, and empathy during difficult moving situations.”

THE GRANDMA RULE® highlights the family atmosphere that has been built here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, and it is a major reason people are drawn to our brand.

lauren-munson“I believe THE GRANDMA RULE® is such an important core value because it truly represents the culture of this company,” said Lauren Trost, the marketing and sales manager for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® “Chicago 5” locations. “TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® employees not only practice this core value while at work – it is deeply ingrained in their everyday life. Before I started working at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the Lansing franchise actually moved my grandma. I witnessed a wonderful display of compassion and strength. For several weeks after her move, my grandma could not stop talking about how impressed she was with the two young men who moved her.”

It’s this kind of attention to detail – especially with the senior crowd – that has helped build the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand into what it is today. The care and effort we put into helping our older generation move is appealing to customers, and helps them to feel comfortable when we are handling a delicate situation like a senior move.

Each franchise has special tips and tricks they use, but all of them have a main focus of providing an easy, relaxed moving experience.

Alexa Lanier“Often times, a senior move involves downsizing from a long-term home, and it can be a complicated and emotional experience,” said Alexa Lanier, a multi-unit marketing director for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton locations. “Our customer service representatives and in-home consultants work with the customers to account for the destination of all items, which can involve multiple stops, dump runs, or storage. Our movers then take the time to make sure every item gets to where it needs to go.”

Working with seniors during the move process to ensure everything will be ok is a big deal, as downsizing and parting with belongings they’ve had for a lifetime can feel like a major loss. It can be difficult for them to let go of certain items due to memories created from these belongings, and it’s important to ease them into the next transition of their life.

“We offer a discount on all of our senior moves,” Stern said. “We also try to send our more patient crews that will take their time and move at the customer’s pace. Often times, senior citizens are less concerned with speed, and just want to understand everything in great detail.”

Check out what some of our loyal customers have had to say about our outstanding senior moving services!

“Our experience was outstanding. I needed help moving my Mom to assisted living. Ben was gracious and professional on the phone – explained all options to me and helped me set up the move within the time frame I needed. Nick called ahead to give me the heads up that they had finished their previous job and were on their way. Nick and Jose were both polite, professional, and friendly. They took good care with Mom’s belongings, and they offered their help in getting everything exactly as we wanted when we arrived at the new location. The move was done within the time (and cost) expected. Overall, an excellent job. Thank you to Nick, Jose and Ben.” – Debra, McHenry, IL

This is the third time we have used TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, they’re excellent! I would highly recommend them for anyone’s moving needs. They have moved my daughters twice, and this past move was for my mother. It was a very emotional time for her and my Pop who has dementia, the gentleman were sweet with them both. The guys came all the way to Boerne from Corpus Christi, worked two days, and it was still less than the other guys. They are good, kind, respectful, hard-working, and fast-moving men who are wonderful to work with. Do not go with the other brand, I know from experience their prices change. Thank you again for your most excellent service!” – Debbie, Corpus Christi, TX

Be sure to take some time this weekend and let your grandparents know how much they mean to you! Grandparents are a treasure to us all, and they play a major role in each of our lives! If you are a senior in need of moving services this fall, be sure to contact TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and find out how the “Movers Who Care®” can assist with your move!

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® lends a helping hand to mothers in need across America

Movers for Moms® from our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte location.

-Written by Erik Sargent

Giving back to the communities we work and live in is what drives the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand each and every day. Founder Mary Ellen Sheets donated her first $1,000 in profit directly to charities and since then, giving back to the community has been a top focus throughout our system.

Our franchises across the country participate in and run numerous charitable events throughout the year, but none compare to our annual Movers for Moms® campaign each spring. A campaign started in-house by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® 10 years ago, it aims to provide essential care items to women who are facing homelessness or domestic violence and living in shelters throughout the country.

These women aren’t able to receive the love and care that most mothers receive on Mother’s Day, and we make it a point to ensure they are appreciated by spending the spring months partnering with organizations and shelters to collect donation items. Each TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise participates in Movers for Moms®, making sure our reach is felt from coast to coast.

“We take so much pride in community service events here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, including our own Movers for Moms® program,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® CEO Jeff Wesley. “We celebrated our 10th year of giving back to mothers in need. It’s a blessing that our brand is in position to give back, and we thank all of our locations for the support and passion they put into this important program and the impact they have on communities. We are proud to move people forward and do our part to change lives.”

dukenascarpurpleWith each passing year, the Movers for Moms® word spreads, and the success of the campaign continues to grow. 2017 saw the most impress year of collections yet, and showed how much hard work is being put in by all participants.

More than 295,000 items were collected across the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system, exceeding the 2016 collection total by 10,000. These collection items were able to provide support to more than 250 different shelters across the United States.

Even more exciting, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations were able to secure 810 franchise collection partners for the campaign, and with each location as a drop off location for the community to give donations, there were more than 1,000 collection sites spread across the country this year. Our Sacramento, Lansing, Charlotte, Nashville, Des Moines, Ann Arbor, Myrtle Beach, and Miami locations also stood out as some of this year’s go-getters. All collected 5,000 or more donations items in 2017.

“We were extremely happy with how our Movers for Moms® campaign went this year. Our donation box and special event hosts helped us collect over $1,200 in donations and over 10,000 items,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte Marketing Manager Rosemary Hastings.

Movers for Moms® from the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Mesa location.

On the opposite side of the country, the same levels of success were also seen as TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® worked to help collect these donation items.

“We were very successful, and had a 20 percent increase in donations over last year,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Mesa Marketing Coordinator Jennifer Merkel. “This is attributed to finding corporate partnerships where we were able to place collection boxes in businesses with multiple locations. We also held a few donation drives. These didn’t bring a lot of impromptu donations, but they gave us the opportunity to talk about the charity, and many people were excited to return to the locations with donations at a later date.”

Make way for the newest TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Dapper Dad: COO Jon Nobis!

-Written by Sydney Hartle

We’re excited to announce that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Chief Operating Officer Jon Nobis will be taking center stage at the 8th annual Dapper Dads challenge and fashion show!

Nobis is one of 32 Michigan businessmen (and dads) competing to raise money for an important cause in mid-Michigan: women’s healthcare. The Dapper Dads event is hosted by the Sparrow Foundation’s Women Working Wonders (W3), an organization that promotes the physiological and psychological well being of local women through community outreach initiatives.

The dads are currently campaigning for votes to see who’s the dapper-est of them all, and the top 13 will be featured in the annual Dapper Dads calendar. Every vote costs $5, serving as a donation to benefit W3.

To contribute toward such a worthy cause (and in the hopes of landing Nobis in the calendar), TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Home Office held a charity bake-off to see who could create the tastiest dessert using Nobis’ favorite chocolate candies.

Jon-Nobis“Dapper Dads really has nothing to do with me, or a fashion show,” said Nobis. “It’s all about supporting women’s health in the mid-Michigan area.”

Carrying on the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® legacy, Nobis will be following in the footsteps of former Dapper Dads Executive Board Member Brig Sorber, President Randy Shacka, and CEO Jeff Wesley.

“I’m so proud of the care the entire TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® family shows our communities and the people around us,” Nobis said. “I am thankful for everyone’s support of Sparrow Hospital and the cause.”

Care — for family, customers, coworkers, and the community — is just one of the core values that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® holds near and dear. The opportunity to improve women’s lives with W3 means the world to us.

“Being a Dapper Dad is about giving back to the community for an important cause,” Nobis said. “For all of us, if we don’t have our health, we have nothing. For me in particular, I have a wife and a daughter, and God only knows what kind of woman each of my five sons is going to need to keep them in order someday. I pray we always have access to the best healthcare so they can share their gifts with the community around them.”

Nobis’ plan for working the runway in the Dapper Dad’s fashion show is to bring his six children onstage with him, diverting the crowd’s attention.

“I have a couple of teenage sons who think they can rap,” he added.

To show your support for Jon Nobis, you can contribute a $5 vote for him (all proceeds go to W3, of course!) until Wednesday, June 7. The Dapper Dads Fashion Show will take place at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 8 at Kositchek’s in downtown Lansing, MI.

“Usually, being ‘dapper’ in my everyday life means just not embarrassing myself with what I wear,” Nobis joked. “But being a dad is the most important thing in my life. I can’t wait to represent TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® as a Dapper Dad for such a worthy cause.”

Movers making a difference for mothers in the community with annual Movers for Moms® program

-Written by Erik Sargent

Working with charities and giving back to the community is a high priority here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, and one of our top campaigns,  Movers for Moms®is getting ready to kick off.

When Mary Ellen Sheets founded the company in 1985, one of the main goals she had was using her platform as a business owner to help others any way she could. The Movers for Moms® program focuses on helping mothers in need around the time of Mother’s Day by providing them with essential care items they need most. While most moms are being celebrated during Mother’s Day, many are living in shelters due to unfortunate circumstances in their lives. This campaign aims to make this day a little more enjoyable for them, and to show appreciation and compassion for all they do.

“From day one, Mary Ellen took care of charities, and the brand has raised the bar even jeff-wesleyfurther as we continue to drive our vision and achieve success,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® CEO Jeff Wesley. “To have our own charity that is integrated within the brand and supporting moms in need is something to be so proud of. The hard work of every TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® location and team member, along with the impact they have, is just phenomenal. I am so proud of the Movers for Moms® program and all of the locations dedicated to moving moms forward.”

The program was created by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in 2007 and is the most successful campaign the system sees throughout the year. Since the program’s creation, we have been able to collect over 800,000 items that have been donated.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® partners with local businesses, organizations, and schools, along with women’s, family, and homeless shelters in their communities to make this all possible, donating trucks and manpower to pick up and deliver charitable items that are donated to recipient shelters. Donation items vary from shelter to shelter, but often include things like soaps, hair styling products, shampoos, conditioners, pillows, blankets, slippers, and other clothing items.

2016 was the most successful year of Movers for Moms® to date, as we were able to collect more than 285,000 items! The program took place in 39 states, and each franchise location for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® participated last year. We were able to partner with more than 400 businesses, schools, and community centers across the country to make this all possible.

If you’re interested in supporting the program as a collection site, or would like to donate items locally, please email

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Wraps Up Successful Fall Season of Giving Back

-Written by Erik Sargent

Here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, giving back to the community is a staple of who we are as a company. Ever since its founding, finding ways to make an impact on local communities has been a main point of focus, and this belief is carried over to every person who joins the team.

We give back in a number of ways, but our favorite are the campaigns we’ve created from the ground up. One of our biggest seasons is the fall, where some of our best charity work takes place, and helps to get people in need set up for the winter months.

We have our own TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® fall programs we call Movers for Meals, Movers for Military, Movers for Mutts, and Truckload of Warmth. Franchises around the country run the program of their choice, each positively affecting specific groups or causes. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises running Movers for Meals collect nonperishable food items for local food pantries or homeless shelters. Items collected for Movers for Military include personal care items and gently used clothes for local veterans or homeless shelters. Movers for Mutts focuses on collecting food, treats, and toys for humane societies or animal shelters. Truckload of Warmth aims to put provide those in need with essential warm clothing for the winter months.

We experienced another successful year in 2016; here are a few highlights of how we’re able to move people forward once again.

Movers for Mutts

For many households across the globe, pets are important members of a family, and they hold a special place in the hearts of people everywhere. Unfortunately for some pets, they are without a home or proper care, and are forced to live in shelters.babzoe

“We have partnered with and sponsored the Humane Society multiple times this year, and dedicating or fall program to them not only solidified our relationship with them, but opened the door to more cause marketing opportunities for 2017,” said Panama City marketing intern Savannah Hasty.

At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we take the time to collect items shelters need most to help pets in need, partnering with local businesses, schools, and organizations across the country to collect  items shelters need most.

In 2016, we were able to collect a grand total of 12,946 items through the Movers for Mutts campaign, totaling 1,000 lbs., and $2,000 in total collections.

Movers for Military

Without the men and women who serve this country, we would not be able to enjoy the many great freedoms we experience each day and often take for granted. Unfortunately, many of these men and women return from their service and struggle, often dealing with homelessness.

“Seeing how thankful everyone at the shelter was when all of the items were being dropped off was truly a great feeling,” said Dayton marketing intern Justin Greear.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® teams up with local partners such as businesses and other organizations each fall to collect essential items such as towels, bedding, clothing, toiletries, and other care items to help out veterans in need.

With the 2016 Movers for Military campaign, we were able to collect 5,125 items, totaling $250.

Movers for Meals

The hunger crisis in the country is an ongoing issue, and more and more people find themselves in situations where they aren’t sure how they’ll get their next meal.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® acts upon this each fall, just before Thanksgiving, partnering with various schools, businesses, food pantries, and local shelters to collect non-perishable food items, hoping to put more food on the table for those in need.

In 2016, franchises collected 2,637 pounds of non-perishable food items for the Movers for Meals program.

Truckload of Warmth

Each year as the cold winter months approach, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® makes an effort to provide more people in tough situations with the appropriate clothing to stay warm during the cold, winter months.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Des Moines Truckload of Warmth

“The Self-Help Closet and the Pantry is a wonderful organization,” said Des Plaines marketing coordinator Lauren Trost. “It is so neat to see local businesses and organizations get so passionate about helping keep local families warm this winter.”

Partnering with local organizations, businesses, and schools, we aim to collect anything that could help someone stay warm, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and much more. We donate these items to local shelters who help distribute them to those who need it most.

For 2016, franchises collected 13,736 items to help those in their local communities stay warm this winter.

Helping The Cause, Gaining A Friend

-Written by Erik Sargent

A life without pets is a life many people could not imagine, as animals have become integral members of families all around the globe.

The joy a dog or cat can bring to every member in a household can’t be measured, and the love people have for their animals has no limits. Unfortunately, many of these animals are reliant on living in animal shelters to stay alive, and they miss out on the style of life that is fit for them.

That’s why the people here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® have taken the initiative to help these animals in need, and how the Movers for Mutts program began. Each fall, the program partners with local businesses, schools, and organizations across the country to collect food, toys, and other items pets may need.

The program – like all TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® community service programs – has been a great success, and has brought joy to both the animals and the people involved. With these events, new relationships have developed, and many employees from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® that went in to help walked away with a new friend.

Here are a few of those great stories of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® employees walking away with a new pet after participating in Movers for Mutts.

Jessica Chapman – Marketing Specialist – Akron, Ohio

Working out of the Akron franchise, Jessica was on her way to a local animal shelter to drop of flyers for the upcoming Movers for Mutts event. What started as a work-related trip ended with a new member at her home.first-sight

“I had no clue I would be getting a fluffy puppy this year. I went to the shelter to drop off some flyers for our event, and I walked out with a fur baby,” Chapman said. “After the first time I held him, I knew I couldn’t put him down. We’ve had Bentley for three weeks and he’s been on three trips, so it’s a good thing he likes to travel.”

Bentley was an unexpected surprise for Jessica, but he’s a good example of how TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® community service events like Movers for Mutts can make a major impact.

“Bentley is a perfect example of how Movers for Mutts can change an animal’s life,” Chapman said. “I wasn’t planning on getting a dog, but I was at the rescue for Movers for Mutts, and now Bentley has a home he can feel safe to be a puppy in.”

Jenni Hargrove – Marketing Director – Nashville, Tenn.

Jenni was a part of the Movers for Mutts at the Nashville franchise, and going in, had absolutely no intention of adopting a pet, she already had a dog of her own.movers-for-muttes-leela

“I definitely did not want to adopt a pet before the event. We had a dog already and lived in an apartment, so I didn’t want to adopt another dog until we moved into a house,” Hargove said.

Despite her intentions not to adopt, a certain puppy – Leela – was determined to get her attention, and it paid off for both.

“We met Leela at the event and she actually wouldn’t stop jumping into my lap every time I had to sit down to do something,” Hargrove said. “She was really energetic and sociable, just like our other dog, so I asked my husband to drive home and get our 3-year-old dog so they could meet.”

The meet and greet with their other dog went well, and Leela was on her way to her new home.

Anissa Manuel – Sales and Marketing Coordinator – Virginia Beach, Va.

Anissa works for the Virginia Beach franchise, and this year decided to make some donations to a local animal shelter to help support the Movers for Mutts campaign. She didn’t have any plans of adopting a dog, but a text message from a friend changed her mind.babzoe

“I was talking to my friend who volunteers at the shelter, I was telling her about Movers for Mutts, and that I was going to donate our items to that shelter in particular,” Manuel said. “She texted me about puppies, and I ran right there after work.”

Anissa was helping donate to the Movers for Mutts cause, and soon after, ended up meeting her new friend, Zoe.

“I adopted a sweet little puppy named Zoe. She’s about two months old,” Manuel said. “I love my Zoe, she’s a handful – which is to be expected – but she’s sure the cutest and happiest dog I’ve ever met.”

Kristin Touart – Marketing Manager – Alpharetta, Ga.

Kristin works out of the Alpharetta franchise in Georgia, and unlike the three others in this story, walked away with a new pet that wasn’t a dog.jax

“I had no idea or plans at all, it was random and spontaneous,” Touart said. “I was at a vet partner location to drop off boxes and flyers and one thing lead to another, and I ended up with a kitten.”

The kitten was a welcomed addition to Kristin’s family, as her daughter has taken kindly to the new furry friend in the house. Kristin is big on animal rights and has a soft spot for animals, and she was glad to make a difference in the kitten’s life.

“I’m happy I was able to give one kitten a home and make room for another homeless animal to take his place,” Touart said. “Serving our community is a way for us to share our success and resources with others. It’s a fun way to live out our core values and that shows the public what TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is all about!”

Movers For Moms efforts in Jackson, MS
A 2nd grade class at Ann Smith Elementary in Jackson, Miss., helped support moms in need through Movers for Moms®!

Just nine years ago, the Movers for Moms® campaign was born. The annual program, which began with the Michigan TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations who wanted to support local moms in need around the time of Mother’s Day, involves working with local businesses, schools, and organizations to collect essential care items for moms living in domestic abuse or homeless shelters. Today, our more than 300 locations across the country participate in the program and support local moms in their community.

The program has grown exponentially over the years and we’re proud to say we’ve collected more than 800,000 items for moms the past nine years. This year alone, our fantastic franchises collected more than 285,000 items for delivery to local shelters!

“Movers for Moms was extremely instrumental in providing a wonderful and meaningful Mother’s Day for the Shelter’s participants,” said Volunteer and Resource Coordinator Rebecca Grabau at The Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Naples, Fla. “Without community support like this, the Shelter would not be able to provide our life changing programs and services, and we certainly would not be able to create such a special day for all of our survivors.”

Movers for Moms® success is built on the generosity of local communities coming together to support at-risk moms. A BIG thank you to everyone who has generously donated to the cause, or the local community partners that acted as drop off locations for donations. Without the support of our communities around the country, we wouldn’t be where we are today in helping moms who need it most around the time they should feel most special- Mother’s Day!

We’re proud to live out our core value of giving back to the community, not just when running our annual Movers for Moms® program, but all year long.
