We’ve entered the month of March, and slowly but surely are working our way toward spring, which means one thing: warmer weather!

Warmer weather is usually the signal for many to start thinking about home moving, which means it’s our sign to ramp it up and help our customers move forward. Often times, we tell our customers that organization is one of the most important factors in having a successful home move. If you are organized before, during, and after the move, you will eliminate lingering stress and find yourself with a seamless experience.

However, this is much easier said than done. From finding your new home, selling your old home, switching over utilities, packing, cleaning, hiring movers, and everything else in between – your brain can get overwhelmed making sure every base is covered.

What’s mentioned above are the high-level priorities, but there’s also aspects of the move that fly under the radar – we like to call these “overlooked moving essentials”. These are the things you’ll want with you before moving day and when you arrive at your home. Follow along!

Detailed moving checklist

With all of the high-priority ideas we mentioned above, it’s important to keep everything in line – that’s where moving checklists come in. Moving checklists are crucial when it comes to organization, and helps you process everything in real-time so tasks are able to be completed one-by-one.

A good moving checklist will help you navigate from a few weeks prior to your move all the way through the day you arrive at your new home. If you aren’t sure where to find a moving checklist, don’t worry. We’ve got one right here!

Cleaning supplies

It probably isn’t news to anyone that moving isn’t exactly the cleanest activity in the world. Moving equipment, trucks, boxes – it can get cluttered and a little messy. Not to mention cleaning your old and new home in the process. This is why having cleaning supplies handy can go a long way on moving day.

Soap, cleaning spray, bleach, Clorox wipes, toilet cleaner, paper towel, and anything along those lines are good to have purchased and ready should a mess occur.

Tool kit

Having a tool kit is one of the most necessary, yet forgettable details when you’re rushing around on move day.

Having one on hand will help with taking items apart or reassembling them throughout the day and will help clear up any quick fixes you might see around your new home during the move.

Chargers and batteries for electronics

It’s an electronic world out there, right? Chargers and batteries are as important as they’ve ever been, so make sure you have a few of each ready for use so that everyone’s phones and other electronic devices can stay charged.

Plastic bags, paper plates, and utensils

Plastic bags are a cheap, versatile, and easy tool on moving day. Everything from carrying loose items that didn’t make it in the packing process to quickly disposing of trash can be handled with plastic bags, so have a stash of them ready. Since it also might be a few days before you get to unpacking, having a stash of paper plates and disposable silverware on hand might be an easy way to eat your meals.

These are just a few important and often overlooked moving essentials you’ll want to keep in mind as you’re getting ready for moving day. To find more helpful moving tips to make your moving day a success, search through our company blog or visit our website!
