Career Move Month has been rocking and rolling here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, and the focus has remained on career advancement for those looking to join our outstanding system.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is looking to add 1,200 employees to our system with the Career Move Month campaign, hoping to fill various open positions system-wide including movers, drivers, customer service representatives, and even management positions. As we work to find new ways of bringing the best of the best into our network, job interviews become an extremely important factor in the process.

Job interviews can be stressful experiences, and can often put people in uncomfortable positions as they work to make an impression on those interviewing them. From talking about yourself in front of a group of people, to explaining why you are a good fit for their particular team – there is a lot of pressure to succeed. Fortunately for you, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is all about helping move people forward, and we have come up with some interviewing tips to help you land the job.

Turn your phone off

Cellphones have become a bigger part of our life than almost anything on the planet. It’s always with you, and chances are, it’s always on. Make sure the sound is completely off, or just turn the phone off all together to make sure it doesn’t awkwardly go off during the interview.

15-minute early rule

Give yourself some time and show up to the interview at least 15 minutes early. You never know what obstacles could come up on your way to the interview, and the last thing you want an important job interview is to be late and waste the company’s time.

Be prepared

A big part of the interview is gauging how much you know about the job you’re trying to get, and the people interviewing are going to put this knowledge to the test. Do some research, and find out everything you can about the company – saying the right thing might be the difference between getting the job and getting passed up.

Keep eye contact

Many people struggle with this, and understandably so, but it’s important to keep eye contact with those talking to you. It shows you are engaged in the discussion, and that your mind isn’t wandering off to other things during the interview.

Firm handshake

This might sound like and old-timer saying you’d hear from your grandparents, but the value of a good handshake can’t be measured, and can go a long way in showing respect and maturity.

Dress like a pro

This might be the most important part of an interview, yet people often overlook it. Dress for the job you want! If you show up in normal street clothes, it shows you aren’t as serious about this as other candidates, and you’ll more than likely find yourself still job searching.
